These delicious treats are packed full of healthy oils and proteins and low in carbohydrates. Great for post work-outs and to pop in your pocket while cross country skiing. Don’t worry coconut oil has a melting tempreture of 25 degrees and so no sticky back pack.
Ingredients: Shredded Coconut, Fine Coconut, Cocoa Powder, Maple Syrup, Almond Flour, Almond Meal, Coconut Oil, Vanilla
The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc. The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza and cytomegalovirus. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia. As a result of these various health benefits of coconut oil, though its exact mechanism of action was unknown, it has been extensively used in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medicinal system.

Graham was raised on a family run farm in Blythe, Ontario. The family raise goats and run a produce business, supplying fresh local produce to various restaurants in south western Ontario. Graham is one of eight children and the only member of the family who has taken work outside the family business. It was a passion for cooking and baking that brought him to Healthy Foods & More. He baked his first loaf of bread at age seven and it was his mother’s commitment to healthy eating that encouraged him to study gluten free recipes. His family have always followed a sugar free and wheat free diet since he can remember.
“My Mom has always been interested in health and healthy foods. I was home schooled and surrounded by healthy and recipe books, so one winter I read them all. After that I was hungry to learn more and experiment and began cooking for my family.”

Graham still helps cook the family Sunday lunch and still helps out with the family business on the weekends but we are so grateful he has agreed to join the team in the Healthy Foods & More bakery during the week. Since starting at the store he has introduced a whole new range of deserts and tempting treats.

Check out “Graham’s Almost Raw Caramel Bars”, these tasty bars are made with raw coconut oil (Unlike other fats this oil actually encourages your body to burn more calories), raw walnuts, raw pecans, raw cocoa powder, raw agave nectar, vanilla. The only thing that’s not raw is the Maple syrup.
Grahams Chocolate Halva melts in your mouth and his Dark Chocolate Tort is pure decadence both make wonderful treats for serving to guests with coffee after a supper party this Christmas.
