About the Owners

Longtime friends Michael Luckhai and Shannon Hayek opened Healthy Foods & More in the spring of 2009 after the closure of The Natural Food Market, one of the earliest health food retailers to serve the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

The new store opened with the aspiration of creating an inclusive, convivial space for individuals and families living with food sensitivities and health challenges, or for those who simply want to pursue a healthy lifestyle. The store is the largest of its kind in the region with 11,000 sq. ft. comprising the bakery, cafe and market.

Michael Luckhai is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and a registered nutritional consultant specializing in food sensitivities. Michael’s enthusiasm for health and nutrition has made the development of the store a natural extension of his work with clients. Shannon joined Michael in opening Healthy Foods & More in the pursuit of offering healthy foods and products in an approachable setting and at affordable prices. You can find both owners helping customers in the store, experimenting with new recipes in the bakery and serving delicious healthy food at the café counter.
